Bob Foster

Bob and Anita Foster started making pyrograved clocks in the 1970s, and their business has grown into a thriving cottage industry, clocks being shipped off all over the world.

The clocks are made from English woods, currently sourced in Norfolk and Northamptonshire. Each clock is individually shaped and worked so that every one is unique.The wood varies as it depends on what has been naturally felled and milled as to the clocks put up for sale. Bob takes care of the woodwork, cutting and preparing the blanks, Anita is a freehand pyrograver, so draws out the clocks, then burns on the designs, and assembles the finished items.

The couple also make barometers and smaller items such as keyhooks and doorstops. As well as the large variety of items exhibited at shows, commissions are welcomed, - examples of completed work can be seen on their website, www.clocksinthewoodshed.co.uk.
